Bar Circo is an emblematic establishment located in the heart of Zaragoza, with a rich history dating back to the late 19th century. Currently located at Calle Jerónimo Blancas 4-6, this bar is a gastronomic reference in the Aragonese capital, especially known for its exquisite potato omelette.
History
The Bar Circo dates back to 1887, when it opened its doors as the bar of the Teatro Circo, located on the corner of San Miguel and Isaac Peral streets. After the theatre closed and was demolished in 1962, the business moved to Porcel Street, where it remained for almost two decades. Finally, in 1981, it was established in its current location on Jerónimo Blancas Street. The bar has been run by several generations. Vicente Enciso, who worked at the establishment for 25 years, took over the business in 1991. Currently, his son Eugenio Enciso continues to run it, maintaining the essence and quality that have characterised the Bar Circo over the years.
Ambience and Decoration
El Circo combines excellence in raw materials with a traditional neighbourhood style. Its interior is characterised by a metal tiled bar and retro furniture that evokes the atmosphere of classic Zaragoza bars. Specialties
The undisputed star of Bar Circo is its famous potato omelette. Between 30 and 40 omelettes are prepared every day, characterised by their juiciness and the fact that they are always served freshly made. The secret of its success lies in the use of the best quality ingredients, such as new potatoes and fresh eggs, and in its preparation at the moment, leaving it slightly set inside. In addition to the omelette, Bar Circo offers other specialities that have gained recognition:
- Russian salad
- Kidney skewers
- Skeins
- Peppers stuffed with cod
- Pork rinds
- Empanadillas
