Molarepa is a Venezuelan restaurant located in the heart of Zaragoza, at 1 Santa Catalina Street. Founded in 2016 by Maryori Urdaneta, this establishment has established itself as a benchmark for Venezuelan cuisine in the city. Its name, a fusion of the words "mola" (something you like) and "arepa" (the iconic Venezuelan food), reflects its essence: a cuisine that combines tradition, innovation, and warmth.
Environment and philosophy
The restaurant seats more than 150 guests and features a decor reminiscent of Venezuela's natural and beachy landscapes. Images of Angel Falls and plains music create a welcoming atmosphere. There's also a special corner inspired by Caribbean beach bars, serving dishes less known outside the country.
Specialties
Molarepa's menu offers a wide range of typical Venezuelan dishes and fusion cuisine. Its specialties include:
ArepasThe restaurant's signature dish, with more than 40 filling options. Among the most popular is the "Pabellón" arepa, which includes shredded beef, black beans, cheese, and tajadas (fried plantains). Also noteworthy is the "Reina Pepiada," filled with chicken salad with mayonnaise and avocado.
Cachapas: Pancakes made with tender corn, milk and egg, generally filled with cheese.
Tequeños: Cheese sticks wrapped in dough and fried, ideal for sharing.
Patacón: A unique take on the burger where the bun is replaced with fried green plantain, filled with meat or vegetarian ingredients.
Caribbean dishes: Like "Rompecolchón" or "Vuelve a la vida," a cocktail that combines ceviche and a seafood bloody mary; and "Fosforera," an aphrodisiac fish and seafood broth.
Traditional desserts: The three milk cake and chicha, a sweet drink similar to rice pudding, stand out.
The restaurant also offers typical Venezuelan drinks such as Colita and Maltín.
